Poets to be published in Young Writers competition

Two UTC Swindon students have been selected to have their poems published in this year’s Through Their Eyes poetry competition.

The event is run annually by Young Writers, an organisation which aims to encourage young people to engage in creative writing, working with schools, parents and young writers.

Through Their Eyes invited students aged from 11 to 18 to write a poem from someone or something else’s point of view.

The organisers said: “We received an amazing variety of work, Through Their Eyes definitely captured imaginations! Congratulations to our student winners who have each received a Certificate of Merit. Their work will be published in a young writers’ anthology.”

Both entries are reproduced below:

King Beast 6000

Oh Mr Beast, a King of Delight,

With kindness and generosity, shining so bright.

He spreads joy and cheer, far and wide,

With his gifts and surprises, his heart full of pride.

His nice ways, a true work of art, a masterpiece of kindness straight to the heart.

He helps people in need with a smile so wide, and brings hope to those who thought they’d be denied.

His YouTube channel is a treasure to see,

A never-ending stream of surprises, a treat for me!

From giving away cars to helping those in need,

Mr Beast’s kindness is contagious, it’s all we need.

Every Step Counts

On fields of green,

Where dreams are made,

An academy of football,

Where talent is displayed,

Young players gather,

Eager to shine,

With every step,

Their futures align.

Their coaches watch,

With eyes so keen,

Assessing skills,

And moulding their team,

Their guidance and experience,

A precious find,

Helping their players reach their full potential,

One brilliant mind.
